Most of the time, discussion about a certian up coming topic dies down after release as all that is left is feedback, good, or otherwise.
In the case of the speed nerf, it was long overdue and needed in my opinion.
1. The majority of pvp styles are around close combat, being the most damaging and quickest to annihilate the enemy, though I would not say ships are too slow now, while I can certianly feel the difference in my Battleships, the change to agility has made a positive difference. Also, why catch a Falcon, a Falcon that is not there is better than one that is causing havoc from afar.
2. I believe it all depends on playstyle and fitting choice, Afterburners are becoming more popular with a few select ships though MWDs are still quite commonplace in combat.
3. A few ships are now more agile, though there are specilized ships still capable of catching them, why use a Battleship to point a Cruiser when an Interceptor can do it alot more effeciantly, I say you really do not have a case here.
4. There are more ways than using a web to slow or stop a ship, though while it does mean bring more friends along, it does not mean bring a whole blob along. Rapiers and Huggins still do their jobs just fine, they just need to be flown a little differently and have an amended fitting to what the pilot is used to.
5. Bigger is not always better, though I can understand in some cases HACs succomming to BCs it is not always the case. Recons are jsut as powerful as they were before.
While I will agree with Vitrael that Quantum Rise has overhauled the face of combat, I do have to not that change happens and sometimes change is good, otherwise we get into the same rutt of similar fitted ships with the same playstyle over and over again. Now, you need to change that from the comforting this beats that to, I need to rethink this so it can beat that train of thought.
If anything, the changes were tested throughly for quite some time, hope on Sisi when "the next big thing" hits the Dev Blog. I quite enjoyed testing everything QR had to offer. -
